Kate Alexandra
Kate’s passion lies in sharing with others the ways she has found to express her human experience through the mediums of movement and music.
After a childhood jam-packed with piano, dance and singing lessons, choir and play rehearsals, adjudications and band concerts, Kate went on to study the disciplines of drama, voice and dance at the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto (graduated with Honours in 2004).
Yoga found Kate through the path of dance and theatre. Moving back to Quadra from Toronto in 2008, there was limited space to dance in, and Kate needed that physical/creative outlet. Yoga revealed itself, as it does when the student is ready, and Kate hasn’t spent a day without her mat since. Like for so many of us, yoga has been the pathway to so much more growth and personal evolution than she ever could have realized when first embarking on this journey.
Kate completed her 200h YTT training in Vancouver. She has since gone on to train in Kundalini yoga (Manipura College, 50h Foundations Module), Yin yoga (Carly Forest, Foundations of Yin Yoga, 15h), and many other workshops and classes in the disciplines of yoga, music and theatre. Kate has taught yoga, dance, voice and theatre to kids and adults in downtown Vancouver, the studio she opened in Richmond and along our beautiful coastal paradise here in Campbell River and on the Discovery Islands.
Kate is on the weekly teaching schedule at Ocean Mountain Yoga and Solstice Studio in Campbell River, BC. You can also book online private classes (one on one or group setting) right here at movewithkate.ca

Kind Words from Kate’s Students
“Kate has helped me immensely. I came to her lacking confidence and with a very limited range I could sing. I decided to try voice lessons with Kate to help me feel better about my singing. I also wanted some strategies to learn cover songs as I was struggling to sing anything other than my original songs with other musicians in a group. The first few times I went to Kate I was astonished at how much confidence I gained both in my original material and in learning and singing other songs. The more lessons I took that more my confidence grew as did my range. My upper range of my voice has improved by leaps and bounds with Kate’s help. Her warm ups and strategies and wisdom helped me to begin to put color and texture to my singing. Kate is an amazing teacher!”
“Dear Kate,
Thank you so much for the time you have spent with us for the past few weeks. Since yoga began I have noticed myself to be more calm and I thank you for that. The breathing techniques you have shown us have been so helpful.”
“Thank you for your sunshine and your love of fun-so grateful that you arrived at OMY.”
“Look forward to receiving more of your vibrant energy Kate.”
